Recipient and lecturer: Professor Christof F. Boehringer

Professor Christof F. Boehringer is one of Germany's most famous numismatic scholars. Prof. Boehringer specializes in Hellenistic Coinage and aspects of Sicilian numismatics. In 1988, Prof. Boehringer was visiting scholar for the Eric P. Newman Graduate Summer Seminar in Numismatics at the ANS.

About the lecture

Greek coinages of Sicily at the end of the fifth century B.C.
The chronology of the coin series of the 'signing artist' will be examined from various points of view, especially typology and epigraphy.

About the award

The Huntington Medal Award is conferred annually in honor of the late Archer M. Huntington in recognition of outstanding career contributions to numismatic scholarship. The medal was designed in 1908 by Emil Fuchs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the ANS.
