UPCOMING ANS EXHIBIT AT THE FED
An exciting development this Spring is the ANS partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and United States Secret Service to create a new exhibition at the Bank devoted to the Secret Service’s work to catch counterfeiters of US currency. The exhibition will feature forged notes from seizures around the globe, as well as never before seen photographs of the counterfeiting operations and the ingenious methods used to smuggle their products into the US. Full details will follow soon! Watch out for an illustrated article on the exhibit in the ANS Magazine.

2010 GALA RECAP
The ANS Annual Dinner Gala in honor of Mr. Victor England, Jr. held on January 7th, 2010 was a great success. Attendance was at a record high and the entire event raised over $200,000 for ANS programs and operations. We would like to thank our many generous sponsors, advertisers, gift bag contributors, auction donors, and attendees for their support and participation. A recap of the gala, including images will be featured in the Spring 2010 ANS Magazine. For a full list of Gala Sponsors, please visit http://www.numismatics.org/NewsEvents/GALA2010
KOLBE AUCTION RECAP
On January 9th, 2010, George Frederick Kolbe/Fine Numismatic Books sold at public auction 100 lots of duplicate items from the American Numismatic Society Library. The sale was held in conjunction with that of 400 highlights from the Stack Family numismatic library. Items were auctioned off at the Waldorf-Astoria, while the lot viewing took place during the two preceding days at the ANS headquarters. The ANS duplicates included a large number of important auction catalogs, including sales of Hirsch, Ratto, Rollin & Feuardent, and more. Funds from the sale will be used for the benefit of the care and future development of the library collections. In general, bids were strong and the overall sale was a success. Many thanks to all that gave their time to ensure that this was a successful event.
